Dorothy “Dorie” Hauserman was born on March 5, 1932 to Bert and Elsie Andersen. Dorie grew up with one brother, Richard, and more friends than could be counted. She took her peaceful final breaths on May 20, 2021 in bed, at home with her daughter and son-in-law. Dorie is survived by three of her children, Brad (Vicky) Hauserman, Dawn (Dan) Ryan (née Hauserman), and Mark (Mary) Hauserman, and is now reunited with her dear late son, Glen (Linda) Hauserman. Some of Dorie’s greatest pride came from seeing her children grow, watching them develop and learn as life progressed, and experiencing a whole new level of love as they started their families. Dorie is also survived by her grandchildren Maggie (Mike) Valadez (née Ryan), Katie Hauserman, Devin Ryan, Ariel Hauserman, Dalton Hauserman, Veronica Hauserman, and Marisa Hauserman, as well as her great-grandchildren Damian, Evalize, and Charlize. And we can’t forget about her precious fur baby, Aimee!

Throughout her life, Dorie’s strength and resilience were admired by all as she independently raised four children while working two jobs, underwent knee and hip replacements, and beat three separate occurrences of cancer. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with family and friends, especially when joining in for a game of LCR, Rummy 500, bingo, or bunco. Dorie’s excitement for Lynfred Winery, Culver’s, and QVC have provided plenty of stories and laughs for everyone around her, especially when accompanying her to pick up over a year’s worth of monthly wine club bottles, all at once. Far beyond her spending endeavors, Dorie’s friends and family will forever remember her kind heart, witty spirit, unyielding passion, and her wardrobe full of everything red, white, and blue. Dorie would go out of her way to help anyone and everyone; she drove to pick up countless friends for whatever they needed, dropped them off wherever they had to be, and brought them all together for lunch, church, the Happy Seniors Club, or any other event that popped up on the calendar. Her life was well-lived, filled with joy, and truly an honor to be a part of.

Though her time with us has ended, Dorie will forever be in our hearts, minds, and souls. Thank you for sharing this crazy, beautiful time with us, Dorothy; we love you.

Lucky to have known her when I was growing up and in my "grown up" life here in Norridge at Acacia Park. Always cheerful, always a smile, always giving, always fun and such a strong lady. She will be missed. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Rest in heavenly peace Dorie.

Thank you for sharing, Patti. This is Devin, her granddaughter, and she loved her Acacia family. I’m glad she has made an impact in your life like so many others.
