Obituary for Vincenzo Lettieri

Vincenzo Lettieri passed away on August 28, 2022. Vincenzo is welcomed in Heaven by his father Filippo, mother Maria Concetta DeFranco, brothers Carmen, Guiseppe, Gildo, Antonio and sister Teresa Granata. He is survived by his wife, Rachele, his son John Pietro (Mary), daughters Maria Teresa (Barry) and Filomena. He leaves 7 grandchildren, Vincenzo (Diana), Lauren, Nicole, Skyla, Janel (Salvatore), Maclin, John Luke, Michael Thayer and great grandchildren, Rayleigh and Ronin. He is also survived by brothers Salvatore (Carmelina), Mario, Ottavio (Carmelina) and many nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be loved and missed by all who had the honor of being a part of his unforgettable love and devotion and passions for life, family and friends.
Vincenzo was born in Celico, Italy on October 14, 1932. He married Rachele in Celico in 1956 and moved to America later that year where they started their lives together in Chicago, IL. After the children were born, they moved their family to the suburb of Schaumburg where he remained for the rest of his life.
He had a long successful career as a Master Tailor with Hart Schaffner Marx after starting his apprenticeship in Tailoring at the young age of 8. He had a deep love and appreciation for the arts. He dedicated his life to preserving life’s important moments and memories through painting, sculpting, and writing, ultimately publishing 5 books. When he wasn’t in his office or studio, he was often found tending to his garden or napping on the patio swing.
Vincenzo an eccentric and often misunderstood man, but one thing is for sure he did what he had to do to love, raise and provide for his family. His home has been always welcoming with open arms and love for all.

Visitation Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. until an 11:30 a.m. funeral service at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. We will then proceed to All Saints Mausoleum in Des Plaines for the entombment. For more information call (708)456-8300.
