Obituary for Ronald Caliendo

Ronald J Caliendo

Ron Caliendo passed peacefully at the age of 77, after a long and valiant fight with lung cancer surrounded by his family.

Ron was multi-talented with a tremendous knowledge of mechanics and was always ready to lend a hand helping others with building projects and auto and truck repairs. He had a great ability to solve complex problems and his favorite catch phrase was, “The difficult I can do immediately, the impossible takes me a little longer.”

Ron’s greatest love  was his devoted wife Victoria (Vickie) who he met in 1966 when they were teenagers . Ron and Vickie were married in 1971 and have been inseparable for over 52 years.

Ron is also survived by his precious daughters, Michelle (John) Gibbelina and Theresa (Michael) Simandl and his adored six grand-children, Gianna, Anthony, Juliana, Gabriella, Michael and Alyssa for whom he lived and dedicated his life. He was considered their “Superhero” and there was nothing he would stop at to make them happy.

Ron’s life will live on through his family and cherished memories and Italian traditions like Pasta Sunday and Bingo and Card Games.

Ron lived his life for his family and friends and was the Patriarch of the family. His devotion was endless and he was considered the richest man alive to those who knew and loved him. Ron was a selfless person filled with endless love, incredible strength, an abundance of knowledge,, kindness and loyalty. His humor and kindness is what made people love him. Ron especially enjoyed working with his CPD family where he served and protected our Chicago citizens for over 20 years. Ron was known as a generous man with a “Heart of Gold” who’s memory will be cherished forever.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Campese Caliendo and his sister, Rosina Caliendo Iacopelli. He also has many nieces and nephews who he loved and who will miss him.

Rons tremendous light hearted sense of humor and love for life and devotion to his family will live on in our hearts forever until we meet again!!
