Obituary for Peter William Krol

Peter W. Krol passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024. If you could only say one thing about Peter, it is that, more than anything, he wanted those around him to have a good time. And he did everything he could to ensure they enjoyed their time together. His favorite place was anywhere really, as long as he was surrounded by family.  And when he couldn’t be with family physically, he made sure to keep in regular contact to feed his insatiable love of family. In addition to his deep devotion to parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and others, he really cherished his role as the fun uncle to nine nieces and nephews. He simply couldn’t get enough of being “Uncle Pete”.Peter’s second great love was all things sports…Chicago sports (yes, Cubs and Sox), and Marquette Basketball. He even managed to learn to root for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He rarely missed a game and certainly never missed the stat line. Akin to how he lived the rest of his life, Pete wore his emotions on his sleeve with passionately animated reaction pitch by pitch and shot by shot. Peter could couch coach with the best of them. And while he could be sullen by the losses, his weeks were made by the wins.Peter also found great joy on the golf course, especially with wife Erin; Or watching any sporting event with his dad and grandpa.  Peter made friends everywhere he went. He was always looking for opportunities to connect with others. He was fiercely loyal to those closest to him, protecting all those he cared about like the big brother he was. Peter always looked for and found the best in people, always with perpetual optimism. And no one loved a comeback story more than Pete.Peter was grateful for his many lifelong friendships from Maine South, Marquette and NFA. From trips back to Milwaukee to dodgeball leagues with his colleagues, he soaked up every second he could with his friends. Whether on the golf course or the softball field, Peter was fueled by competition. Whether with friends, his brother or father, Pete was quick to turn every venture into a friendly “game”.Pete received his undergraduate degree in Business and his Masters in Accounting from Marquette University. For 18 years, Peter was dedicated to his career as a regulatory examiner at NFA, where his greatest passion was mentoring others. Peter left this world with the love of his beloved wife Erin and his vast group family & friends. He is survived by his parents Jeff and Linda Krol, sisters Jill (& Chad) Funk, Kelly (& Scott) Brunning and brother Bill (& Hilary) Krol; his mother and father-in-law JD and Cindy Walls, sisters-in-law Jenna (& Jeff) Glick and Maggie (& Ryan) Brueck; and nieces and nephews Amelia, Vivian and Jack Funk, Hattie and Brynn Brunning, Jeffrey Krol, Ellie and Miles Glick, and Lyla Brueck; his grandparents, Bill & Lyle Krol; his beloved aunts and uncles, cousins, and many beloved friends. Pete was preceded in death by his grandparents Peter and Von, his Uncle Tom, his Aunt Mary, and his best friend, Joe Miller.  Visitation Friday , January 12th from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels (FRIEL FUNERAL DIRECTORS) 8300 W Lawrence Ave, Norridge, IL 60706.
