Nick, I can still remember the excitement I had when I was told you’d be transferring to the Starbucks I was managing. I remember heading over to the store you were at and observing you brief your team on the plans for that shift. I marveled at the way you communicated with your team and how your leadership ability commanded their attention. It was clear to me that you’d won their respect and that you cared for them. I couldn’t wait to have a presence like yours on my team! I am forever grateful for that transfer and for the opportunity I had to work alongside you and receive your ongoing feedback on how to be a more authentic and compassionate leader. I hope you knew how much it valued you and the friendship we shared in the season that followed your leaving to pursue a career in the culinary field. My life was better because you were a part of it. Love you man, jD

Nick, I can still remember running the old tri-star halls and stairs with you trying to make weight our freshman year. You were the popular kid who also wrestled but still acknowledged me even though we rarely spent time together. I often wondered how good you would have been if you wrestled throughout high school, because you were the best in our class when you stopped. May the Lord comfort you and your family....
