Obituary for Michael Smythe
Michael “Mickey” D. Smythe age 77, passed away on June 3, 2022 with his best friend of 30 years, loving wife of seven years, Lola, by his side. Beloved son of the late Mary (Smythe) and step-son to Jack Mulligan. He was preceded in death by Ray “Popi” Antosz, who loved him like a son. Dear brother of John (Tina) Mulligan, fond uncle of Johnny (Sabrina) Mulligan, great uncle to Juliana Mulligan. Fond Uncle to Michael (Jenny High) Mulligan. Fond cousin to many. Michael meets again with his beloved little buddy, Mickey.
He took great pride in the friendships he has had for over 65 years. His career with Otis brought him many new friends that carried over to his last position with the City of Chicago.
Michael was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, generosity and compassionate spirit.
He will be greatly missed by many. We will always carry his memory in our hearts.
Visitation will take place Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 3:00 until 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge IL. Funeral services will take place Monday, June 13 at 11:00 am at the funeral home; Entombment to follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
