Obituary for Maryellen Monahan (Monahan)

Maryellen Monahan, age 80, passed away peacefully on Valentine's Day 2023. Maryellen was the beloved companion of Andy Ragona for over 50 years; loving mother of Ann Marie (Ron) Klement, Karen (John) Nasti and Kenneth (Nell) Posmer; dear daughter of the late Rita and Robert; cherished grandma Melon of Macaulay Klement, Claire and Cole Posmer; dearest sister of the late Rita Bruno and the late Maureen (the late Terrence) Hughes; fond aunt to her Godchildren James (Carol) Hughes and Julie (Greg) Huck; fond aunt to Andrea (Fred) Rapp, Jodi (John) Darrow and Bobby Bruno. Cherished friend to many.

Maryellen was a very hard worker and devoted mother. She worked as a cashier at Dominick's for 30 years. She was a loving and compassionate person who battled Breast Cancer and C.O.P.D. Her strength and zest for life will never be forgotten. It was fitting that she passed on Valentine's Day, because she loved everyone!

Visitation Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Funeral services begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, at the funeral home, and then proceed to St. Beatrice Church in Schiller Park for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Services will conclude after mass and the interment will be private at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Hillside.
