Margaret E. Milne, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2022. Devoted mother of Gail (Michael), William (Marie-Claire), Susan (Brian), James (Luisana) and Karen; cherished grandmother of Max (Amanda), Casey (Anton), Robert (Stephanie), Haley, Marcel, Cole, Evan, Maya, Connor, Cassandra and James; loved step-grandmother to Evan (Allie), Keegan (Nate) and Martin; delighted great grandmother of Eliza and Kate and step great grandmother to Aubrie, Emma, Austin and Isabelle; beloved sister-in-law to Marilyn (Raymond), Joanne (late Robert) and Constance (late Raymond); precious Aunt to ten nieces and nephews; and dear friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret (Norgren); her brothers James, William and Robert; and her best friends Teresa and Vera.
Margaret’s greatest joy was her five children and she devoted her life to raising them. She was a stay-at-home mom and was always there for them by cooking delicious dinners, hosting birthday parties, driving them to school functions and taking them to amusement parks. She had the sweetest demeanor, was always smiling and found happiness in the simple joys of life. In her free time, she loved to bowl and her passion was Bingo on Wednesday nights.
When her children were grown, she lived on her own and was very independent. She always welcomed her children back for family dinners. She loved to travel to visit her children and grandchildren, in North Carolina and California. She enjoyed relaxing on the patio with pretzels and dip; taking in the fresh air, sunshine and views. She looked forward to sunset pontoon boat rides. She loved watching her grandchildren’s baseball and soccer games, music recitals and horse shows. She never missed an important function in their lives, from birth to weddings and all in between. She especially loved cruises. For her milestone birthdays of 75, 80 and 85, she graciously hosted the entire family on cruises to Hawaii, the Caribbean and Alaska. There was no slowing her down, even though her famous motto was “don’t get old.” She lived her best life in her golden years, always in the company of family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her warmth, generosity and beaming smile will never be forgotten.
