Obituary for Marcel Dillie

Marcel Hippolyte Dillie, known affectionately as "Frenchy" to his colleagues and friends, passed away surrounded by loving family on February 22, 2024 in Chicago, IL. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

He was a proud union electrician by trade, earning his nickname "Frenchy" along the way. Marcel had a passion for his work, and his craftsmanship was evident in everything he touched.

Beyond his professional life, Marcel found joy in the simple pleasures. He was an avid outdoorsman who relished spending time fishing and camping at Woodhaven Lakes. A die-hard fan of the Chicago Bears, Marcel could often be found cheering on his beloved team during football season. He had a refined palate and took pleasure in savoring a good Stella Artois beer, French wine, and French cheese.

Marcel had a deep love for animals, especially his cherished dogs, Milou, Milou, and Poppy, who were more than just pets but beloved companions. He enjoyed the company of his family, often gathering to watch soccer games and share in laughter and stories.

On September 2, 1963, Marcel married the love of his life, Rosa Antonina Inserra. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Marcel and Rosa were blessed with two children, Marie-Claire (William) Tworek, and Gaetan Paul (Debra) Dillie whom they adored beyond measure.

Marcel will be deeply missed by his sister, Therese (the late Alfred) Vasseur and their daughter Marie-Paule (Patrick), his grandchildren, Robert Paul (Stephanie) Tworek, Marcel James Tworek, Nicole Barbara Dillie and the late Matthew and Michael Tworek, his great-grandchild, Matthew Gerard Tworek, his cousins Anne-Marie, Jeanne-Marie, Bernard, his brother-in-law Giuseppe and sisters-in-law Maria and Rosalia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Claire Jeanne-Marie Decobert and Paul Marcel Dillie but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
