Obituary for Harry David Mosier

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Harry David Mosier, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, mentor and cherished member of the Mosier Family. Harry peacefully joined the moon and the stars December 19, 2023. Harry was born on January 10, 1944, to Lena and Nelson Mosier, the third oldest son in a large, close-knit family. From a young age, he exhibited a passion for life that would become a hallmark of his character. Harry's journey through life was marked by significant milestones, none more enduring than the 53 years of marriage to his devoted wife, Jane Joyce. Together, they built a life filled with amazing journeys of love, laughter, and great debates.  Harry's compassionate nature led him to pursue a degree in teaching special education at Lewis University where he distinguished himself as a basketball star known by many as “Harry The Hat”, and the leader of the pack and life of the party.   As a father, Harry was a pillar of strength, providing for his family, and using his mind and his hands to physically build and create things. Harry’s legacy continues through his sons, Tom & Richard, his favorite daughter-in-law April and three adoring grandchildren, Zachary, Finn, and Poppy, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. Family meant everything to Harry, and he approached every role with love, dedication, and a sense of humor that endeared him to all.  In the later years of his life, Harry discovered a passion for painting and became known affectionately as "Van Mo" among the Glenn Michigan Community. His artistic endeavors allowed him to express himself in unique and vibrant ways, leaving behind the fascinating structures such as the Moon Barn, and the Love Shack, that will forever remind us of his creativity and zest for wild and crazy things.  Harry's life will be celebrated by his loving nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish the memories they created together. His sister-in-law, Laura, doted on him with affection, contributing to the unity that defined the Mosier family.  Harry David Mosier will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the enduring love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the rich tapestry of a life well-lived and honor the eclectic spirit that made Harry such a cherished presence in our lives. Visitation will be held on Friday December 22, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels at 8300 W. Lawrence Ave Norridge, IL 60706.  Funeral Services will start again on Saturday at the funeral home at 10:00 am until the time of the Chapel Service at 11:00 am.  Interment is private.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to, www.ox-bow.org/give-to-ox, a cause close to Harry's heart.  May Harry's soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us to live our lives with the same passion, fire and joy that he brought to the world.  For more info please call 708-456-8300.
