Gilbert Galarza, age 75, U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Veteran passed away on September 13, 2022. Gilbert is the beloved husband of Isabel Lugo; loving father of Catherine M. (Humberto) Galarza-Espino; dearest son of the late Antonia and Severo Galarza; cherished grandfather of Peter Galarza and Christopher (Victoria) Lugo; dear brother of the late William Galarza; fond uncle to William, Richard, Angela, and Antonia Galarza; and cousin of many. Gilbert was an Assistant Principal and Educator at James B. McPherson Public School in Chicago for over 30 years. Visitation Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Funeral services begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, and will then proceed to St. Hyacinth Basilica in Chicago for Mass at 10:00 a.m. The interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Chicago.
