Obituary for Geralyn Marie Pawelski

- "Geri" - 65 yrs young and recently retired. She was a devoted/unwavering Chicagoan and die-hard Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks fan. She began her career as a respiratory therapist while studying to become a nurse. As a nurse she spent her final years as a hard-working caring and compassionate nurse in the CCU of Chicago’s Northwestern University Hospital. She had her own set of health challenges which found her walking thousands of steps in local neighborhoods lending her energy to help raise funds for many causes she supported. She loved movies (i.e., always saw all the nominated Oscar ones) and discovered those unique television series we often never heard of which introduced us to amazing stories we would have missed! When she wasn’t checking out the newest movie she enjoyed meals and gathering with friends of ALL ages, walks of life adding her own special spirit to each. She loved many types of music including opera and folk but the Beatles topped her list and you couldn’t compete with her memory for the right lyrics. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Bertha. She was an awesome sister/sister-in-law to Chris (late Roy Davidson), Barb (Dean) Cesal, Corinne (Bob) Zych, Mark (Donna), John (Agnes) and Lynn (Dan) Berk. Beloved aunt to Amy (Zander), Courtney, Matt (Emily), Jessica (Julius), Jennifer (Jon), Randi (Darien), Tommy and Jimmy. Great aunt to Halina, Leon and Linnea. Cherished cousin to Judy, Nicole and Mike. Geri was a fiercely independent woman with a kind and generous soul always willing to help in any way she could. And those 2009 McCartney/Lennon lyrics ring so true at this time … “And in the end - The love you take Is equal to the love you make.” The light in her candle will burn eternal in our hearts. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Heart Association or Misericordia. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, April 8th  10:30 A.M. at St. Elizabeth of the Trinity (St. Tarcissus) Church 6040 W. Ardmore Ave., Chicago, IL 60646    . Arrangements conducted by FRIEL FUNERAL DIRECTORS.
