Obituary for Georgia Nechi

Georgia M. Nechi, a lifelong resident of Chicago, IL, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 23rd, 2023. Georgia was born on February 7th, 1933, to Hal and Mildred Kent in Chicago, IL.

Georgia is survived by her loving husband, Henry “Joe” Herbon, Her sister; Barbara Hignutt, her many nieces and nephews, her beloved daughter Karen Nashan (Nechi) and her husband James Nashan, her son in law; John Fragassi (Diane).

Her grandchildren; Jennifer Rappaport (Watanabe) and her husband Bob, Joseph Watanabe and his wife Nicole, Lisa Flores (Nashan) and her husband Mike, Lindsey Nashan, Jessie Ross (Nashan) and her husband Anthony, Jamie Grosz (Nashan) and her husband Brandon, and Elizabeth Watanabe. Her great grandchildren; Olivia Rappaport, Parker Rappaport, Emiko Watanabe, Benjiro Watanabe, Stella James Ross, Rocco Eugene Ross and Ryder Nash Grosz.

Georgia is predeceased by her loving daughters; Linda Watanabe (Codlin), Diane Fragassi (Nechi), her beloved sisters; Vera Nolan (Kent), Maryanne Vasil (Kent), Helen DiDiminco (Kent), Karen Glassman (Kent) and her many nieces and nephews.

Georgia will be remembered for her unwavering love of the Chicago Cubs, “never say die” until the last game of the season. Her grandchildren loved her for the warm, caring and often hilarious, grandmother she was.

Top funniest “Gram” moments consist of; her rollerblading down the street and showing her grandchildren she could still do a cartwheel in the parking lot of a local restaurant.

Private funeral services were held at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
