Elizabeth Smeriglio, nee Scarpelli  age 92, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Rocco. Cherished mother of Joseph (Concetta), Rocco Jr. (Andrea), Chiara (late Christopher) Zelko; devoted Nonna of Nicholas, Michael, Francesca (Teddy) Guzek, Emilia (Vince) Fabbri, Rocco Vincent, Francesco, Joseph and Antonio. Great Nonna of Luciano. Dear sister of the late Frank (Janet)  Scarpelli, Joseph (Louise), the late Carol Scarpelli and Sylvia (the late Donald) Pasier. Fond sister in law of the late Frank (the late Grace) Smeriglio, the late Rosaria (the late Dario) Orlando and Rita (the late Gaetano) Anno. Fond aunt to many nieces and newphews and Godmother to many. Elizabeth was a Chicago Public School teacher for 44 years. Graduate of Chicago Teachers College and the University of Illinois. She taught primary grades at Dever School and was the Assistant Principal at Dever School for her last 10 years. Elizabeth graduated from Steimentz High School, class of 1949. Her dedication to Dever School and the community earned her a Chicago Honorary Street Sign on Osceola Ave, of which she was so proud. Please omit flowers. Visitation will take place on Wednesday October 11, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge, Il. Funeral Mass will take place Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Paul of the Cross Church, 320 S Washington Ave, Park Ridge, IL. 60068.  Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
