Obituary for Despina "Denise" Petropoulos (Stathakakis)

Despina "Denise" Petropoulos, nee Stathakakis, age 84, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024. Despina was the beloved wife of the late Stamatios; loving mother of Margaret "Rita" Gianos, Michael (Tiffiny) and Marino Petropoulos and Angelica (Steve) Marchuk; dearest daughter of the late Marino and Aggeliki and Dimitra Stathakakis; cherished grandmother of Antonia and Steven Petropoulos, Marina Gianos, Jenna and Victoria Marchuk; dear sister of Olga (Louis) Gerodemos, Joan (the late Costa) Lalios, Leon (the late Tina) Stath, Connie (Dimitri) Katsouros and the late Christ, Pete, Voula, Angelo and William; fond aunt of many.

Despina enjoyed her work at the bank for over 30 years and all the people’s lives she touched as the patient bank teller.  She was also known for her world famous “Greek cookies” which she happily shared with everyone she met.  Her selflessness, never-complain attitude, and continued support of her children even during the last five difficult years are something we will forever cherish.  Finally, she had a magic gold-finger and was dubbed the “Queen” of the Wheel of Fortune slot machines.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation at parkinson.org would be appreciated.
