Cesare Vitale of Elmwood Park, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023 at the age of 88. Cesare was born on August 30, 1934 in Cinisi, Sicily to Benedetto and Giovanna and was the youngest of five children. In 1963 he married Maria and was blessed with four children and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benedetto and Giovanna; his siblings Benedetto (Aloisia), Serafina, Faro (Josephine), Giuseppa (Bendetto); nephews Faro, Giuseppe, Benedetto, Faro and niece Paola. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria; children Benedetto (Josephine), Giovanna (Paul) Sorce, Francesco (Julie) and Venere (Timothy) Phillis, his nine grandchildren Roseann (Matthew), Marissa, Luca, Alexander, Matthew, Gabriella, Nicolas, Liliana and Maria as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Member of and past president of the Societa Di Santa Fara. Visitation will be held Friday, March 24, 2023 at Cumberland Chapels from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home Saturday March 25, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. and will proceed to St. William Church in Chicago for a 11:00 a.m. Mass. Entombment to follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
