Obituary for Armando De Santis
Armando De Santis 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his love ones on Monday March 11, 2024. Beloved son of the late Giuseppe and the late Maria (nee De Marco). Beloved husband of 64 years to Eva. Loving father of Anna (Salvatore) Raspanti, Brunella (David) Valentino, Tatiana (Luigi) Rago, Susanna (the late Gregory) Whitmore, Francesco (Francine) De Santis. Fond grandfather of Rosa Rago, Gina (Andrew) Ristinen, Luciana (Bill) Johnson, Diana Raspanti, Amanda and Alexis Valentino, Adriana and Olivia Whitmore, Claudia, Valentina, Juliana and Lilia De Santis. Great grandfather of Colton Johnson. Dear brother of the late Gilda (Gigino) the late Rafaele (Fiorina) the late Antonio (Maria), the late Rosetta (Michele), Francesco (Adalgisa) and Luigi (Georgina). Beloved uncle and friend to many.
Armando was born in Rovito, Cosenza, Italy. He started his family at a young age and began working very hard. Work was scarce in Calabria, so in search of a better life, with 5 children ranging in age from 6 months to 9 years old, Armando & Eva brought their family to America. He began working immediately and continued until he retired, providing the ability for his children to have a prosperous future. Armando did however find time to enjoy himself by gardening, curing meats (a true Calabrian tradition) and most of all – just simply being together with his loving wife.
Armando will be missed by all!
Visitation Friday, March 15, 2024 from 9:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Service 12 Noon at Cumberland Chapels (FRIEL FUNERAL DIRECTORS) 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Entombment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
