Obituary for Anthony Daddono, MD

Dr. Anthony Daddono, cherished husband of Kari (nee De Orio), passed away December 4th unexpectedly, but peacefully. A devoted father to William (Kim) Daddono, Anthony (Lynn) Daddono,  Nicholas Daddono, Mary Salzwedel, David Pedersen (Tina), and Kimberly Fuscone (Chuck). He was a fond grandfather to eight and a great-grandfather to two.

He was a devoted father and a pillar of strength for his family, a distinguished medical professional who dedicated his life to the service of others which included serving as a physician during the Vietnam War providing essential medical care to those who served alongside him. His commitment to the health and welfare of his fellow servicemen and women exemplified the highest ideals of military service. 

Born and raised in Chicago, he embarked on an academic journey that laid the foundation for a remarkable career.  Dr. Daddono earned his Bachelor of Sciences degree from Loyola University in Chicago, demonstrating his commitment to academic excellence early on. Fueled by a passion for medicine, he pursued his medical education with a 1-year internship at Cook County Hospital, followed by a rigorous 2-year residency in Pediatrics at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Daddono's commitment to understanding and addressing health challenges led him to specialize further in Pediatric and Adult Allergy/Immunology through a fellowship training program at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.

As a testament to his professional standing, Dr. Daddono was honored as a Fellow of both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. These prestigious fellowships reflected not only his professional achievements but also his contributions to the advancement of allergy and immunology.

Dr. Anthony Daddono was a beacon of light in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him, fondly referred to as “Doc” by many. He left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

During this time of sorrow, we find solace in the memories we shared, the lessons he imparted, and the love that will forever endure. Dr. Daddono's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues.  As we gather to celebrate his life, let us find strength in the shared love and cherished memories that bind us together. Our lives were profoundly impacted by Dr. Daddono, he will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
