Angel Manuel Tirado 09/09/42 – 12/17/13 Angel Manuel Tirado, 71, of Chicago, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 peacefully at his home after battling with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He was born in Manati, Puerto Rico, son of Angelina Torres Nieves de Tirado and Jose Isabel Tirado Miranda. He was nicknamed 'Jaly' (short for Jalisco due to his passion for Mexican music) by his immediate family members in Puerto Rico. He made Chicago his permanent home in 1955. Beloved husband of Maria Teresa Negrete Ortiz de Tirado, he met and fell in love with his beautiful wife on the City's West Side. They were married for over 50 years and had five children. He was a loving but firm disciplinarian to his children who called him “Papi” and “Pop/Pops.” Beloved father of Angel Manuel Tirado (Tito), Gloria Angelica Tirado (Lala), Francisco Javier Tirado (Frankie) and his wife Margo Marquez Tirado, Blanca Sylvia Tirado (Chivis, la nena de Papi) and Marco Antonio Tirado (Markitos, el nene de Jaly) and his wife Jadea Tirado (Jade, la Chinita). He was a proud Blue Collar laborer and loyal steelworker at Central Steel and Wire Company on the City’s South Side for almost 40 years. He stressed the importance of an education to his children because he came from extreme humble means and did not want them to struggle physically and economically like he did. He was a man of FAITH with strong morals and values who took his family every Sunday to Church. He was loyal to the Catholic Church and its doctrine and especially valued the institution of “compadrazgo.” As a result, he had countless of compadres and godchildren. He was a devoted sports aficionado and loved boxing, baseball (1st Cubs & 2nd Sox), and football (Da Bears). The following words epitomize this good man and great father: Genuine, Hardworking, Humble, Honest, Respectful, and Caring. BELOVED BROTHER OF: Jose Antonio Tirado, Angelina Tirado (predeceased), Lydia Colondres, Hector Tirado, Felicita Gonzalez, Ismael Tirado, and Luz Maria Mejias.
